A man has been sentenced to six months in prison after sexually assaulting a woman on a packed Central Line train during the morning rush hour.
Jatinder Singh, also known as Vicky Singh Sangha, targeted his victim on the busy westbound Central Line at Liverpool Street just after 8.20am on 2 October 2024. Taking advantage of the crush of passengers, he carried out the assault without being noticed.
The victim acted quickly and bravely by texting British Transport Police (BTP) on 61016 during the incident. Her prompt action triggered a police investigation.
Shortly after the assault, a vigilant BTP officer spotted Singh near King’s Cross and arrested him.
Singh, who has no fixed address, pleaded guilty to sexual assault at London Inner Crown Court on 25 November. He was sentenced to 26 weeks in prison, ordered to pay a £187 surcharge, and must register as a sex offender for 10 years.
