A cyclist suffered a cardiac arrest on a quiet country lane near Yatton Keynell, Wiltshire, at around 3pm on Sunday. Emergency services responded promptly to the incident on The Street, just north of Chippenham.

Details regarding the victim’s age and gender have not been released at this time.

The Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance deployed a critical care doctor along with two ambulance crews and an ambulance officer. The air ambulance helicopter landed in a nearby field beside the Water Tower to provide urgent life-saving treatment.

Police closed the road in both directions while paramedics worked to stabilise the cyclist. Following treatment at the scene, the patient was airlifted to the Royal Infirmary for further urgent care.

The road was reopened shortly before 5pm after the emergency response concluded.
