Detectives hunting the killers of NHS worker David Gomoh have released a picture of a stolen car abandoned near the scene of the fatal stabbing in Newham.
David Gomoh, 24, was fatally stabbed at around 10.25pm on Sunday, 26 April, just seconds after leaving his home on Freemasons Road, Newham. The tragic attack occurred near the junction with Kerry Close, ending the life of the promising marketing graduate from London Southbank University.
Police believe the attackers fled in a stolen silver Dodge Caliber, which was spotted abandoned at 10.30pm on Lincoln Road, E13. The vehicle was driven through a no-entry sign from Cumberland Road.
The car had been stolen in Dagenham on 16 April. It was fitted with cloned number plates and had a distinct temporary wheel on the front passenger side.
Officers are urging anyone who saw the car before or after the murder to come forward. Dash-cam or CCTV footage from the area could be vital to the investigation.
David’s family is devastated by a double tragedy, mourning two deaths within days. His father recently died from a Covid-19 related illness, with the funeral scheduled for 29 April. Like his nurse mother, David was an NHS keyworker, helping supply crucial equipment during the pandemic.
At the time of the attack, David was on the phone to a female friend and was not involved in any argument. Detectives say the attack appears to be totally unprovoked.
Detective Inspector Tony Kirk of the Met’s Specialist Crime Command said: “David’s family are enduring unimaginable torment. Within days, his mother has lost her husband and son; his sister has lost both her father and brother. Both are heartbroken.
“David was a hardworking young man who had put himself through university. Like his mother, he served the community through the NHS.
“It seems the only reason David was murdered was because he walked down a street. A group of masked men approached him and stabbed him multiple times in a brutal attack.
“David and his family now need the public’s help. If you know anything, please make that phone call. You can remain anonymous, but the family deserve answers and justice.”
No arrests have been made so far. Detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command (Homicide) are urging witnesses or anyone with information to call 020 8345 3985 immediately.
