A 34-year-old cyclist from Fareham was seriously injured in a crash with a blue Ford Transit van at 8.20am yesterday (25 July) on Peak Lane during the busy morning rush hour.

The cyclist was rushed to Southampton General Hospital and remains in a serious condition. The van driver, a 39-year-old also from Fareham, was unhurt in the incident.

PC Sarah McEwen of Havant Roads Policing Unit said: “This happened during the morning rush hour so we know that there were a lot of vehicles around. Did you see either vehicle prior to the collision or did you see the collision? We’d like to speak to anyone who may have seen something but haven’t yet come forward. You could have crucial information that helps our investigation.”

Police are urging anyone who witnessed the collision or saw either vehicle beforehand to contact them on 101, quoting reference 44170285672. Witnesses can also provide information anonymously through Crimestoppers.
