Clifton Patterson, 67, has been jailed for 16 months after violently attacking a woman in his Hyson Green home, Nottingham, in the early hours of 9 June last year. The unprovoked assault, involving punching, kicking, and strangulation, led to police arresting Patterson following a 999 call from the victim.

Shocking Nighttime Assault

The victim, a woman in her 40s, was attacked as she lay in bed. Patterson struck her head, threw her around the room, and repeatedly punched and kicked her while choking her. Despite the brutality, the victim escaped and alerted the authorities.

Police Intervention

Officers arrived quickly at the Biko Square address after the victim’s distress call. Patterson was arrested on the scene and gave no comment during police questioning.

Court Guilty Plea

At Nottingham Crown Court on 23 April, Patterson pleaded guilty to intentional strangulation and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, leading to his 16-month prison sentence.

Justice Served

This sentencing highlights the court’s firm stance against domestic violence and the ongoing effort to protect victims in Nottingham and wider areas.
