Tedros Goytom, 28, has been sentenced to five years in prison for the predatory rape of a 16-year-old girl in Basingstoke. The attack took place near a bench on Winterthur Way on 2 September 2022 after Goytom met the victim through social media. At the time, he lived on Popley Way in Basingstoke. Goytom was convicted at Winchester Crown Court and was also placed on the sex offenders’ register following sentencing on 22 April.

Police described Goytom’s actions as “predatory and horrific.” Detective Constable Victoria Cobley commended the victim for coming forward and helping secure the conviction.
