Mohammed Rasool, 44, has been jailed for six years and ten months after launching a brutal attack on two female police officers in Crawley. The violent thug pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm, robbery, racially aggravated assault, and more at Hove Crown Court on 19 March.
Brutal Eye-Gouging Attack on Police
Rasool was wanted on a warrant for skipping court over a robbery charge when officers arrived at his Gossops Drive home to arrest him. What followed was a savage assault. Rasool gouged the officers’ eyes, bit them, yanked their hair, and battered them with a mobile phone.
One officer suffered permanent eye damage. She said, “When I felt fingers over my face like a spider trying to locate my eye socket, I feared the worst. I don’t think I will ever forget this.”
Her colleague, with 28 years on the force, described it as the worst attack she has ever faced and spoke of the terror she felt trying to defend herself and her team.
Road Rage Rampage Adds to Violent Crimes
Rasool’s violence didn’t stop there. The court also heard about two shocking racist road-rage attacks near Gatwick Airport:
- On 3 May 2024, Rasool racially abused and assaulted a taxi driver.
- On 28 June 2024, he punched a driver through a car window, stole his phone, and fled the scene.
After being charged, Rasool skipped court again, triggering the police visit and the vicious attack on officers.
Top Cop Condemns Rasool’s Brutality
Detective Chief Inspector Pauline Lane branded Rasool’s actions “truly shocking.”
“The road-rage incidents were appalling enough, but he then unleashed a vicious and sustained assault on officers who were there to protect the public. Rasool is clearly a violent and dangerous individual, and I am pleased he is serving a significant custodial sentence.”
