Vulnerable Mum’s Baby Horrifically Abused by Tinder Paedophile

A vile paedophile who targeted a new mum on Tinder to get close to her baby has been jailed for life. Christopher Phillips, 34, from Pembrokeshire, inflicted unimaginable injuries on the tiny 10-week-old, leaving the family shattered.

Shocking Baby Injuries Revealed in Court

The infant suffered brutal trauma including severe anal and genital injuries, a broken ankle, wrist, six ribs, a fractured skull, and a brain bleed. Doctors said the baby needed morphine — rare for such a young child — and surgeons even considered a colostomy to repair the damage.

Judge Condemns ‘Grotesque Sexual Perversion’

At Swansea Crown Court, Judge Paul Thomas KC called it the worst case he’d seen in 40 years. He warned Phillips he poses a lifelong danger to kids and could be locked up forever. Phillips was convicted of multiple sexual assaults and grievous bodily harm, despite denying the charges right up to his conviction.

Judge Thomas told Phillips: “You inflicted these injuries on an utterly defenceless baby to satisfy your grotesque sexual perversion.”

Family Left Devastated and Scarred

  • The baby’s grandmother described the “absolute horror and devastation” caused by the abuse.
  • The infant now fears men and lost almost a year in foster care investigations.
  • The baby’s father said he was “shattered” when he learned of the horrific injuries after Phillips’s arrest.

Phillips met the mum on Tinder in 2020 and pushed for unsupervised access, even demanding to change the baby’s nappies. The horror only came to light when the baby was rushed to hospital in January 2021. Phillips was sentenced on January 16, 2026, receiving life with a minimum of 16 years. The court heard he was under the influence during the abuse but was otherwise fully functioning and employed — making the crimes all the more chilling.
