A 33-year-old man from Eastbourne has been hit with serious terrorism charges in a flagship Sussex investigation into extreme-right-wing threats.

Thomas Smith Faces Seven Terrorism Counts

Thomas Smith, resident of Blakes Way, stands accused of seven counts of “encouragement of terrorism” under Section 1 of the Terrorism Act 2006. Smith was arrested during sweep raids on December 4 across Eastbourne and Brighton.

Three Others Released Without Charge

Four people were arrested in the intelligence-led crackdown, but after further probing, a 27-year-old woman from Hailsham and two Eastbourne men, aged 36 and 41, were freed with no charges.

Smith Remanded, Due in Court Tomorrow

Smith remains in custody and is set to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on December 11. Authorities insist the case highlights ongoing efforts to crush extremist plots and keep communities safe. The wider investigation continues.
