Chaos flooded the West Midlands on Friday, 14 November, as heavy rain sparked flash floods that trapped drivers in their cars. West Midlands Fire Service raced to rescue stranded motorists caught in the rising waters.

Fire crews scrambled to Hawkesley Mill Drive in Northfield where a van was left stranded and submerged in rapidly rising floodwater. Firefighters quickly sealed off the area, leaving the vehicle put in place to keep the public safe.

The sudden downpour followed hours of relentless rain, forcing the Environment Agency to issue fresh flood warnings nationwide. The West Midlands Fire Service revealed they tackled multiple emergency calls from motorists trapped in fast-rising water.

Fire Service Issues Grim Warning: Don’t Risk It

A spokesperson pleaded with the public: “If your journey isn’t essential, please avoid travelling. Stay well clear of floodwater and never try to drive through it. Always take an alternative route.”
