Coastguard Rescue Drama at Camber Sands!

HM Coastguard Romney Marsh sprung into action on Wednesday evening during a routine local patrol. They were urgently called by the Solent Operations room to help several people trapped by the rising tide at Camber Sands.

Stranded on a Wreck: Daring Water Rescue

Arriving quickly, Sussex Police spotted two individuals stranded on a wreck, already surrounded by fast-encroaching water. Two brave coastguards plunged into the water with tethered lines to reach the trapped casualties. The Pett Level Independent Rescue Boat joined the mission, playing a key role in bringing them safely back to shore.

Emergency Teams on Standby

Once ashore, the rescued were immediately handed over to the South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAMB) for urgent care. Meanwhile, HM Coastguard Rye Bay and the RNLI Rye Harbour Lifeboat Station were on hand as crucial backup, ready for any further developments.

Coordination Saves Lives

This nail-biting rescue highlights the power of quick, coordinated action between emergency services. The public is urged: in coastal emergencies, always dial 999 and ask for “The Coastguard”. Your quick call could save lives.
