Tragic Teen Stabbed to Death in Croydon Park
Fifteen-year-old Zaian Aimable-Lina has been confirmed as the victim of a brutal stabbing in Ashburton Park, Croydon. The local teenager suffered a fatal stab wound to the heart on Thursday evening, 30 December.
Murder Investigation Launched
Police were called to Ashburton Park shortly after 7pm, where officers found Zaian badly injured. Despite immediate first aid and efforts by the London Ambulance Service, he was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:36pm.
The victim’s family have been informed and are receiving support from specialist officers.
15-Year-Old Arrested, Later Released on Bail
A 15-year-old boy was arrested the following day on suspicion of murder. He was detained at a south London police station but later released on bail pending further inquiries, with a court date set for late January.
A post-mortem on New Year’s Day confirmed Zaian died from a stab wound to the heart.
Police Plea as Community in Shock
Detective Chief Inspector Richard Leonard, leading the investigation, said: “My thoughts continue to be with Zaian’s family and friends as they cope with this tragic loss. Our team is working round the clock to get them the answers they deserve.”
“Zaian’s death has sent shockwaves through not just Croydon but across London. He was just 15 with his whole future ahead of him. We urge anyone with information, no matter how small, to come forward immediately.”
Superintendent Dan Knowles from Croydon’s South Area Command added: “This terrible loss has rightly caused huge concern locally. Our officers are stepping up patrols and continuing the investigation. Please speak to us if you know anything.”
