A Swindon man has been slapped with a two-year Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) banning him from all Co-op and Tesco Express stores in the town.
Serial Shoplifter Banned from Local Shops
Stuart Hook, 37, who has no fixed address, appeared at Swindon Magistrates’ Court on September 12. He was charged with nine counts of theft from Co-op and Tesco Express stores between June and August 2025. Hook stole goods worth hundreds of pounds.
The court handed him a six-month prison sentence, suspended for 18 months, 120 hours of unpaid work, and up to 20 days of rehabilitation activity. Most importantly, the new Criminal Behaviour Order bans him from entering any Co-op or Tesco Express branches in Swindon for two years.
Police Crack Down on Repeat Offenders
PC Andy Caldwell said, “This Criminal Behaviour Order has been put in place to protect local retailers and their staff from repeated theft and disruption. It sends a clear message that persistent anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated in Swindon.
If Hook breaches any of the conditions, he will face arrest and further prosecution. We remain committed to supporting businesses and taking firm action against those who repeatedly offend.”
