London Double Murder Probe Underway After Two Women Found Dead

Police in London have launched a major double murder investigation following the deaths of two women earlier this year. A 40-year-old man has been arrested and remains in custody as detectives dig deeper into the tragic cases.

First Victim Found Unresponsive on Aylesbury Estate

Officers were called on Monday, 17 March, after reports of an unresponsive woman inside a building on the Aylesbury Estate, SE17. Paramedics attended but sadly, 53-year-old 1 was pronounced dead at the scene.

Despite a full post-mortem, no clear cause of death was found, prompting further police investigation. Carmenza’s death sparked the initial inquiry that has now linked to the second victim.

Second Woman Found Dead in Tottenham

On Sunday, 24 August, officers responded to reports of a woman found unresponsive on High Road, Tottenham. Sadly, 39-year-old Sheryl Wilkins was pronounced dead at the scene. Once again, a post-mortem was unable to determine the cause of death.

Suspect Re-Arrested Over Both Deaths

The same 40-year-old man initially arrested in April in connection with Carmenza Trujillo’s death was re-arrested on Thursday, 4 September by the Met’s Specialist Crime Command. He is now being questioned over both women’s deaths.

Detective Chief Inspector Speaks Out

“This investigation launched after the deaths of two women has been our priority,” said Detective Chief Inspector Neil John.

“My sympathy goes to the family and friends of both victims, who have been updated on this development and continue to be supported by specialist officers.”

“No woman should feel unsafe in our city, and we know this news will cause concern across communities. Our investigation is continuing at pace and remains a priority. I urge anyone with information relating to either incident to come forward as soon as possible.”
