Police officers were called to an unusual roadside incident on Saturday afternoon when a caravan came loose from the vehicle towing it and ended up in a ditch near Cambridge Services in Boxworth.

Fortunately, no one was injured during the mishap. Officers quickly attended the scene to ensure the safety of the area and assisted the caravan’s owners in arranging recovery.

A police spokesperson humorously commented:

“You can’t park there, sir! Thankfully, no injuries were reported, and we were able to help the owners secure safe recovery of the caravan.”

Safety Reminder for Towing Drivers

Authorities are reminding motorists to check towing equipment regularly to prevent similar incidents. Ensuring caravans and trailers are properly secured is essential for the safety of both drivers and other road users.

Cambridgeshire Police added:

“Before embarking on any journey, especially long-distance trips involving caravans or trailers, it’s vital to double-check all coupling mechanisms, lights, and tyres.”

The incident caused minor delays near the service station, but traffic has since returned to normal.
