A murder investigation is underway after a woman was shot dead in the Green Park area of Talbot Green, a few miles west of Cardiff.
South Wales Police were called to reports of a shooting at around 6:10pm on Sunday, 9 March 2025. Officers and Welsh Ambulance Service paramedics attended the scene, where a 40-year-old woman was found with serious injuries. She was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
A 42-year-old man from Talbot Green has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody as enquiries continue.
Multiple crime scenes have been established in the area, and road closures are in place as investigators gather evidence. Scene of crime officers in white protective suits have been seen examining the area alongside uniformed officers and police vehicles.
Detective Chief Inspector James Morris said: “I understand the concern this will cause the local community, and I want to reassure people that a team of experienced detectives are already working at pace to piece together the events of last night.”
South Wales Police are urging anyone with information to come forward as the investigation progresses.
