Worshippers at London Central Mosque Report Thefts During Evening Prayers
Two women have been arrested on suspicion of theft after Muslim worshippers at London Central Mosque reported having their belongings stolen during Ramadan prayers.
Police were called to the mosque on Park Road, near Regent’s Park, at around 6:30 pm on Friday, March 7, following reports that multiple people had been targeted.
Suspects Arrested at the Scene
According to the Metropolitan Police, a 42-year-old woman and a 19-year-old woman were arrested at the scene.
A Met Police spokesperson confirmed:
“Police were called at approximately 6.29 pm to a report of theft at London Central Mosque. Two women, aged 42 and 19, were arrested at the scene on suspicion of theft from multiple victims.”
Eyewitness Account
One worshipper, Robleh Adam, described how the suspects entered the mosque during evening prayers, wearing traditional Islamic clothing.
“Once Ramadan prayers started, some people dressed in traditional Islamic clothing entered the building and were allegedly spotted stealing,” he told MyLondon.
An Uber driver reportedly alerted worshippers to the suspicious activity and contacted the police.
Investigation Ongoing
Authorities have not yet confirmed the number of victims or what items were stolen.
The Met Police investigation is ongoing, and officers are urging anyone who may have been affected or witnessed the incident to come forward.
