Son Charged with Murder After Dad Dies from Horrific Injuries in Camberwell
A shocking tragedy has gripped Camberwell, London, after Larry Chaters, 68, died from severe injuries sustained at his home on Cormont Road. His son, Craig Chaters, 37, has been charged with murder following Larry’s heartbreaking death.
Dad’s Fatal Injuries
Larry Chaters was rushed to hospital on 27 December 2024 with multiple injuries including broken ribs and a collapsed lung. Despite emergency care, Larry succumbed to his wounds and died on 2 January 2025.
The incident took place in the London Borough of Lambeth, leaving the community in shock.
Son Arrested and Charged
Craig Chaters, Larry’s son who also lived at the same address, was arrested on 2 January and promptly charged with murder. He appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 3 January and was remanded in custody. His next court date is booked for 10 March at the Old Bailey for a preliminary hearing.
Police Investigate Murder
The Metropolitan Police have launched a full murder investigation. A post-mortem confirmed Larry’s injuries directly caused his death.
“This is a deeply tragic case, and our thoughts are with the family and friends of Mr. Chaters. We are continuing to investigate the full circumstances surrounding the incident,” said a Met Police Homicide Unit spokesperson.
