The Metropolitan Police have launched a murder investigation following the death of a woman in her 60s who was stabbed at an address in Greenland Quay, Rotherhithe (SE16) on Friday, November 29.

Emergency Response

Police were called shortly before 3:00 p.m. after receiving multiple reports from members of the public about concerns for a woman inside the property. Officers attended the scene alongside the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance.

The victim was rushed to hospital for emergency treatment but sadly died later that evening.

Arrest Made

A 61-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody. According to police, the man and the woman were known to each other.

Investigation Underway

Detective Chief Inspector Kate Blackburn, who is leading the investigation, stated:

“We received multiple calls from members of the public close to the scene with concerns for the victim yesterday afternoon. Officers together with the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance responded quickly, but sadly, the woman in her 60s died in hospital yesterday evening.

“Our Specialist Crime Command are continuing enquiries today and at this stage, we believe that this was an isolated incident with the man and woman known to each other.”

Police are appealing for anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
