Man Smashed Over the Head in Shocking High Street Attack
On Saturday 23 April 2022, a man in his 40s was brutally attacked on the High Street, between Commercial Road and Esplanade. The assault happened between 8.30pm and 8.45pm when the victim was hit on the head with an unknown object.
Victim Rushed to Hospital with Deep Head Wound
The victim suffered a deep cut requiring numerous stitches. Paramedics treated him at the scene before rushing him to hospital for further care. The attack was completely unprovoked.
Police Urge Witnesses and Dashcam Owners to Come Forward
Investigating officer PC Nick Pebody said: “This was an unprovoked assault that left the victim requiring a large number of stitches. We are examining CCTV footage and carrying out enquiries in the area.”
He added: “Any witnesses or drivers with dashcam footage are urged to contact us to help with the investigation.”
