Innocent Delivery Driver Killed in Brixton Gang Shootout
A young takeaway delivery man was tragically caught in the crossfire of a brutal gang shootout in Brixton and died on his moped. Guilherme Mesias de Silva, only in his early 20s, was on a routine delivery when gunfire erupted between rival gangs around 8pm on Sunday.
Despite frantic efforts by paramedics, Guilherme was pronounced dead at the scene. He was due to return home to Brazil in December. A heartbroken tribute on social media called him an “asphalt warrior” and “a humble boy,” mourning the young man’s life cut short while simply trying to work. One friend said: “Rest in peace my friend.”
Drill Rapper Perm Also Dies in Shootout
Another victim of the violence was a popular drill rapper known as Perm. His family spent the night at the scene, openly sharing their grief with others paying tribute.
The shootout involved a dramatic chase and gunfire between a car and a moped. A third man was reportedly shot and fled the scene, adding to the chaos.
Police Launch Investigation Amidst Community Shock
The Metropolitan Police were called at 7:50pm after reports of 12 shots fired on Railton Road, SE24. Officers, including firearms units, arrived alongside London Ambulance and Air Ambulance crews.
The force confirmed two men were found injured and died at the scene. Their identities await formal confirmation, and next of kin have not yet been notified. Multiple streets remain cordoned off as forces continue their investigation.
Local residents described a terrifying evening. One witness, Sebastian Morrison, said:
“I heard the shots and spoke with locals who confirmed a shooting happened. There was a car chase and fire exchanged between a pair on a moped and people in a car. The car crashed at the scene.”
