A scumbag who robbed a frail and elderly woman has had boiling water poured over him in prison. Dean Kenyon says he is now “in constant and searing pain” after the attack behind bars. He had been in custody after a robbery in Consett, Teeside, in January where grabbed a 79-year-old woman’s handbag with such force that she fell backwards and fractured her hip. But while on remand for the crime he had scalding water poured on his legs and arms by other prisoners The lag’s injuries were so bad they required him to have five skin graft operations. He has 13 previous convictions. Most recently in October 2020 he barged another arthritic woman into a shop window before grabbing her purse. Yesterday he appeared at Durham Crown Court court via video link from HMP Durham. He had pleaded guilty to the charge at a previous hearing. His defence said: “He had boiling water poured over his arms and legs, resulting in skin grafts to be applied to those areas affected” “He has had five skin graft operations and his mobility is to be affected by these. He is currently heavily sedated and is in constant and searing pain.” Sentencing Kenyon, Judge James Adkin, the Recorder of Durham slapped him a six-year prison sentence, with a three-year extended licence.
