A man who attacked two people at a pub in Ramsbury leaving one of them blind in one eye has been sentenced to 11 and a half years in prison.
William Jeffcoat, aged 30, of Oxford Street in Aldbourne, was sentenced today (03/11) at Swindon Crown Court after pleading guilty to two counts of grievous bodily harm with intent at an earlier hearing.
The charges relate to an incident last November when Jeffcoat went to The Bell pub, in Ramsbury, and assaulted his two victims in the car park with a hockey stick.
He hit one of them over the head and the other numerous times around the face.
One of his victims is now permanently blind in one eye, while the other has a 4.5cm scar across his forehead.
Jeffcoat will service seven years and eight months in prison and then the remaining time on licence.
Det Con Clare Sylvester-Wyness, from Swindon CID, said: “We welcome today’s result as this was a violent and unprovoked assault on two people who were repeatedly hit with full force.
“They have been left with lasting injuries and scars from the attack, including one of them losing the sight in one eye.
“It is difficult to fully explain the lasting impact of this vicious assault, but I hope today’s sentencing will give them some closure as well as the opportunity to put this horrific incident behind them.”
