Teens Attack Cyclist with Machete in Epsom Shocker
Two teenage boys from Epsom were arrested today after a terrifying machete attack on a cyclist. The victim, cycling home just after midnight from his girlfriend’s house, was slashed across the left eye in a brutal assault.
Moped Turns Deadly Near Jubilee Way
The cyclist was near the junction of Jubilee Way and Old Kingston Road when a moped with two riders drove past him. The moped then turned around, mounted the cycle path behind him, forcing him to stop and turn.
The teens demanded to know where he hung out before pulling out a machete and striking him with a savage blow to his eye.
Victim Rushed to Hospital
The cyclist suffered a two-inch deep cut to his left eye and was rushed to Epsom General Hospital for treatment. The injury left him “extremely distressed,” according to police.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
Epsom and Ewell Neighbourhood Inspector Jackie Elkins slammed the “nasty, unprovoked attack” on an innocent man just going home.
“We are urging people to come forward if they have any information which could assist our enquiries.”
