Massive Blaze Erupts at Yateley Common Near A30
Smoke clouds forced chaos on the A30 this afternoon as a fierce fire ripped through Yateley Common’s “Woodside” area. Just after 5pm, 20 firefighters raced to the scene to battle flames scorching around four hectares of land.

Crews from Yateley, Fleet, Hartley, and the specialist wildfire unit from Rushmoor joined forces to tackle the formidable blaze. Witnesses reported flames shooting up to 30 feet into the air, making the fire a terrifying spectacle for drivers on the busy A30 near Blackwater.
Cause of Fire Under Probe
The cause of the blaze remains a mystery as officials continue their investigation. Fire officer Danny Randle, in charge at the scene, spoke to us as crews worked tirelessly to contain the damage.
Yateley Common Rangers Confirm Location
Yateley Common Rangers tweeted that the fire broke out at the Blackwater end of the Common, close to the A30. Thankfully, prompt firefighting efforts prevented further spread, but the damage to the heathland is significant.
