Late-Night Taxi Queue Punch Sparks Police Hunt in Southampton
Chaos erupted in Southampton at 2.20am when a 23-year-old man was left battered in a taxi queue after being punched from behind. The violent blow sent him crashing to the ground with serious injuries.
Blow to the Head Leaves Victim Hospitalised
The victim suffered a ruptured eardrum and nasty swelling around his right eye. He was rushed to Southampton General Hospital for urgent treatment.
Police Urge Witnesses to Speak Out
Officers want anyone queuing for taxis or around London Road at the time to come forward.
“Did you see what happened?” police asked. “We need your help.”
Man Arrested, Investigation Ongoing
- A 25-year-old Southampton man has been arrested on suspicion of actual bodily harm (ABH).
- He has been released on bail until February 3 while inquiries continue.
