Driver Jailed for Killing Pedestrian in Hit-and-Run
A reckless driver has been locked up for a year after causing the death of a woman in a careless crash.
Daniel Rogan’s Deadly Crash
Daniel Rogan, 24, from Southampton, admitted causing the death of 35-year-old Allison Steege by careless driving. The tragic collision happened on April 25, 2015, at 10.50pm on Tremona Road, Southampton. Rogan was behind the wheel of a yellow Mercedes van when he hit Ms Steege.
She was rushed to hospital but sadly died from her injuries.
Hit-and-Run Horror
Rogan didn’t stop. He fled the scene and only gave himself up two days later after cops tracked down his van. Today, Southampton Crown Court sentenced him to 12 months in prison and slapped a two-and-a-half-year driving ban on him.
Police Warn: Watch the Road
PC Mark Furse said: “This was a tragic incident that could have so easily been avoided if Mr Rogan had been paying attention to the road in front of him. I hope this shows just how important it is for motorists to keep their eyes on the road at all times, because just a few seconds can have devastating consequences.”
