Serious crash near Picket Twenty leaves two men injured – police hunt witnesses
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Police are urgently seeking witnesses after a nasty collision near Picket Twenty seriously injured two men. The crash involved a blue Hyundai i20, a dark Ford Transit van, and a blue Renault articulated lorry.
Hyundai occupants badly hurt
The blue Hyundai, travelling northbound, carried two men who were seriously hurt in the smash. The 27-year-old driver from Andover is in a serious but stable condition at a local hospital.
His passenger, a 48-year-old man, was rushed to Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital with serious injuries but has since been discharged.
Van and lorry passengers unscathed
The Ford Transit van, also heading north, and the southbound articulated lorry escaped the crash without injury to their occupants.
Two men arrested and bailed
Police arrested two men, aged 47 and 49, in connection with the collision. Both have been bailed until April 27 as the investigation continues.
“I’d like to speak to anyone who saw any of the three vehicles before or during the crash,” said investigating officer PC Paul White. “This happened on a busy road during rush hour, so it’s likely many people will have witnessed it.”
