Smoke Sparks Fuse Board Scare in Ventnor Home

Two fire crews rushed to a Ventnor property this afternoon after smoke billowed from its fuse board. The alarm was raised just after 5pm by the owner of a three-storey house on Pier Street.

Quick Thinking Owner Prevents Disaster

Before firefighters arrived, the owner managed to isolate the fuse board, preventing the fire from spreading. A retained crew from Ventnor was quickly on the scene, while a second team from Newport was called but later stood down.

“The Newport crew were turned back to their station as they were not required,” said an Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue spokeswoman.

Damage Only Minor

Thankfully, the incident caused little damage, with experts saying the property suffered no serious harm.
