A man has been found guilty of a brutal rape, assault, and robbery in Burnley. The victim endured a terrifying five-hour ordeal at the hands of 41-year-old Bo Yang.

Brutal Assault and Rape Unfolded After Money Dispute

Following a dispute over money, Yang pulled a knife from his pocket and forced the woman next to a bed, tearing her clothes with the blade. He then viciously beat her with a metal bar he had in his bag before sexually assaulting and raping her.

Yang’s cruelty didn’t stop there. He tied the victim up with rope and tape, even placing tape around her head. He slashed her with the knife before stealing money and bank cards from her purse.

Desperate Escape and Police Investigation

The victim managed to flee when Yang turned his back, seeking help from neighbours who called the police at 3.46am, finally ending her nightmare.

Police zeroed in on Yang thanks to CCTV footage and forensic evidence, including fingerprints found on the tape around the victim’s face. In a groundbreaking move for Lancashire police, crucial evidence was recovered from ‘WeChat’—the Chinese version of WhatsApp.

Yang Faces Multiple Charges

Yang, from Winn Grove, Sheffield, was arrested and charged with two counts of rape, sexual assault, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, robbery, and possession of a bladed article. After a trial at Preston Crown Court, he was convicted on all counts today (12th December).

He was remanded in custody and will be sentenced on 6th February.
