PRISON PROBE Life-Term Murderer Dies at HMP Styal – Investigation Underway

A probe has been launched after Lisa Clarke, a convicted murderer serving life at HMP Styal, died in custody.

Who Was Lisa Clarke?

Clarke, 53, was locked up for life in 2013 for the brutal torture and murder of Brian Farmer, a former soldier, in Yardley, Birmingham. She was ordered to serve at least 23 years behind bars.

Three others were jailed over the chilling killing. Vaughan Davies, 18, and Jason Andrews, 40, received life sentences at Birmingham Crown Court, with Andrews handed a minimum of 27 years. Peter Knowles, 52, got 14 years for manslaughter.

The Victim: Former Soldier Brian Farmer

Brian Farmer, 64, was found dead in his Yardley flat on May 19, 2012. Police revealed he had been stabbed, suffered broken ribs, and had severe bruises.

A father of two, Farmer served 22 years in the Army with the Queen’s Own Royal Irish Hussars in Northern Ireland and the Gulf before retiring as a Mess Sergeant in 1993.

Details of Clarke’s Death

The Prisons and Probation Ombudsman (PPO) confirmed Clarke died on October 26 at the women-only prison in Wilmslow, Cheshire. She passed away in a Greater Manchester hospital.

An inquest opened and then adjourned at Warrington Coroner’s Court on Wednesday. The PPO says a full investigation into how Clarke died is now in progress.
