Desperate Rescue Ends in Tragedy
A man has died following a dramatic rescue operation off Brighton Marina on Friday afternoon (October 24).
Emergency crews were scrambled just after 1:15pm when witnesses spotted a man in distress in the water, last seen on a jet ski before the alarm was raised.
Coastguard, Lifeboats & Police Race to Scene
Newhaven Coastguard, Shoreham and Brighton RNLI lifeboats, Sussex Police, and South East Coast Ambulance Service joined forces in a desperate bid to save the man.
He was hauled ashore and rushed to Royal Sussex County Hospital, but despite frantic efforts, he was pronounced dead.
Victim Named, Investigation Underway
A Sussex Police spokesperson said: “A 41-year-old man from Brighton was brought to shore where he received medical attention, however, he was sadly pronounced deceased at hospital.”
His next of kin have been informed. Sussex Police have launched a full investigation to uncover how this tragic incident unfolded.
