Merseyside Police swooped on a 34-year-old Southport man after a tense bus stop incident on Monday afternoon (20 October).
What Happened at Cambridge Road?
Just after 3.35pm, officers were called to Cambridge Road following reports a man approached a woman and her daughter waiting at a bus stop. The woman quickly pulled her child close as the man came near.
Police detained the man shortly after arriving. He was arrested on suspicion of attempted kidnap but has since been bailed pending further inquiries.
Police Investigate, Urge Calm
Officers have spoken to witnesses, checked CCTV, and conducted forensic exams to piece together the full story.

Detective Inspector Speaks Out
Detective Inspector Samantha Davies reassured the public:
“We are conducting extensive enquiries and talking to both parties to understand exactly what happened. At this stage, we don’t believe the man spoke to the woman or child as he approached. No witnesses have confirmed any physical contact or any risk to the community.”
