Police are hunting for witnesses after a man suffered a serious head injury following a bottle attack on one of Brighton’s busiest stretches of Marine Parade.
Bottle Attack in Broad Daylight
The shocking assault happened just before 3 pm on 5 October near a popular local gym. The 40-year-old victim was walking along the promenade when a man approached. A confrontation quickly escalated, and the attacker slammed a glass bottle into the victim’s head, causing serious injuries.
The victim was rushed to hospital for urgent treatment.
Suspect Locked Up After Arrest
Later that day, police arrested 36-year-old Sulayman Sarr, who has no fixed address, over the assault. He has since been charged with grievous bodily harm and wounding with intent.
At his first court hearing on 8 October, Sarr was remanded in custody. His next court appearance is set for 11 November.
Police Urge Witnesses to Speak Up
Sussex Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed or heard anything linked to the attack to step forward. Investigators believe that vital information from bystanders could help piece together the full story behind the violent incident.
“We believe others were present during or near the assault and urge them to come forward. Their testimony could be key to progressing this case,” a police spokesperson said.
