A 24-year-old man who sexually assaulted a 15-year-old girl in Ipswich has dodged immediate jail time, receiving a suspended sentence instead.
The Shocking Attack
Ibrahim Batkitar appeared at Suffolk Magistrates’ Court on Friday after admitting the crime. On June 6, Batkitar waited until the street was clear before approaching the girl.
He put his arm around her shoulder and began groping her. When the girl tried to escape, he followed her and attempted to touch her again before running off.
“The victim was left so distressed by the incident that she broke down in tears,” the court heard.
Previous Restrictions and Sentence
Batkitar, from Bibby’s Way, Framlingham, had already been banned from Ipswich town centre under an 18-month community protection notice, lasting until April 2027.
On Thursday, the court handed him an eight-month prison sentence – but suspended it for 18 months, meaning he won’t go behind bars unless he reoffends.
