BRUTAL ATTACK Pregnant mum killed in brutal attack – killer admits murder after initially pleading manslaughter

Shaine March U-Turns, Confesses to Murder of Pregnant Partner

Alana Odysseos, 32, was just weeks pregnant with her third child when she was viciously attacked at her Walthamstow home in July last year. Initially, her partner Shaine March, 45, admitted manslaughter by diminished responsibility but denied murder. That changed dramatically on Friday when March plunged the court into chaos by admitting he murdered Alana.

His shock confession followed legal revelations that a defence expert withdrew support for his claim of diminished responsibility. With that, Mr Justice Murray discharged the jury and lifted reporting restrictions, revealing March’s grim past.

Killer’s Dark History: Murder Conviction and Violent Past Revealed

March, now 45 and from Lewisham, stabbed a man to death at just 21. In January 2000, he fatally stabbed 17-year-old Andre Drummond in the neck at a McDonald’s, earning a life sentence at the Old Bailey.

  • Released early 2013 but re-jailed after assaulting another partner the same year
  • Released again in 2018 before starting a relationship with Alana four months prior to the murder

Terrifying Final Hours: Argument Over Abortion Ends in Violence

The night before her death, Alana and March fought fiercely over the future of her unborn child. Alana was heard saying, “I don’t want to kill my baby.” Hours later, neighbours discovered her outside her home, dressed only in a nightie and dressing gown, clutching her stomach and bleeding.

“Shaine stabbed me, he stabbed me. Help, help,” she cried out before collapsing outside her address.

She bled from multiple stab wounds to her chest, stomach, pelvis, and limbs. March calmly walked away before confessing via a chilling voice note, “Mum, I just killed a woman, and I’m going back to jail.”

Post-Murder Madness: Killer’s Shocking Behaviour After Attack

At 4.41am, Creams Cafe staff called 999 after finding March covered in blood, claiming he had killed his wife and child. After arrest, he reportedly told police, “I did it. I killed her Alana Odysseos. I killed her hahahaha.”

In custody, he asked to be sent to jail “where I belong,” calling himself “scum.” He also admitted stabbing Alana after a furious row over a pair of trainers. While handcuffed, he later attacked another detainee, knocking out three teeth.

Justice Awaits as Killer Faces Whole Life Sentence

March was remanded in custody and awaits sentencing on October 31. Prosecutors are urging a whole life order, reflecting the horror of the murder.

Alana’s family sat through the tense trial and witnessed March’s meltdown before his guilty plea brought the case to a sudden end on day seven. They thanked the police and prosecutors for their work.

Detective Inspector Aytac Necati, head of the investigation, said: “March is a coward who showed no remorse. This case reminds us of the devastating impact of domestic abuse. Anyone experiencing abuse should report it – we will listen and support you.”
