PARK ATTACK Police Hunt Man After Shocking Attempted Rape in Islington Park

 

Detectives are urgently hunting a man after a terrifying attempted rape in Islington’s Gillespie Park.

Woman Attacked While Walking Through Park

The attack happened just before 7pm on Tuesday, 14 October. A woman walking through the park was approached by a man lurking near some bushes. He then tried to rape her.

Thankfully, she managed to escape and raise the alarm. Police say another unknown man chased after the attacker but then vanished. Officers believe this mystery Good Samaritan could hold vital clues and want to speak to him immediately.

Suspect Description and Police Appeal

  • The suspect is described as Black, around 5’8” tall, wearing dark clothes.
  • The attack took place at around 6:50pm near Gillespie Park, a key route for commuters heading to Finsbury Park and Arsenal stations.

Detective Chief Inspector Paul Ridley said: “This was a vile attack targeting a lone woman in an open public space. We are working fast to track down this suspect.”

“We urgently want to speak to the man who chased after the attacker. He may have crucial information to help us catch him.”

“Anyone commuting through the area who saw or heard anything, or noticed suspicious behaviour recently, should come forward. Even small details could crack this case.”

Crime Scene Active – Information Needed Now

Police have established a crime scene while investigations continue. The victim is receiving support from specialist officers.
