An elderly man in his 80s was left fighting for his life after being hit by a white Ford Transit van outside Budgens on Victoria Road, North Common, near Bristol. The horrifying crash happened at around 8.20am this Thursday morning.
Emergency Crews Rush to Serious Incident
A massive response was launched, with Great Western Air Ambulance and South Western Ambulance Service’s Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) among the first on the scene. Paramedics battled to save the man’s life, treating him right in the middle of the road while police sealed off the area from pedestrians and vehicles.
Life-Threatening Condition and Police Appeal
After stabilising the victim, medics rushed him by ambulance, escorted by police, to Southmead Hospital in Bristol. Avon and Somerset Police confirmed the man remains in a life-threatening condition.
Forensic teams are now scouring the scene for clues. Police are urgently asking anyone who saw the collision or has dashcam or CCTV footage to get in touch. Quote reference number 5225283173 when calling 101.
