Met Police have launched a fresh appeal after Vruj Patel, 26, was sentenced to 22 years behind bars for horrific sexual offences. Officers are urging any other victims to step forward.
Hard-Hitting Verdict After Gruelling Investigation
Patel, from Selsdon Road, East London, was sentenced at Snaresbrook Crown Court on Tuesday, 7 October. He’s also on the sex offenders register for life.
The damning case uncovered a string of offences, including the rape of a child under 13, assault by penetration, multiple counts of causing child sexual activity, rape of an adult woman, possession of indecent images, and voyeurism.
His brother, Kishan Patel, 31, was handed 15 months for possession of child abuse images. Kishan has a 10-year sexual harm prevention order slapped on him.
Detectives Praise Thorough Work and Warn Offenders
“Patel is a coward who preyed on vulnerable victims for his own sick gratification,” said Detective Sergeant Rob Blant, who led the probe. “His sentence reflects the severe danger he poses. We will use all powers to keep the public safe.”
“This is a prime example of the Met’s dedication to fighting violence against women and girls, with highly trained officers working tirelessly,” added Blant.
How the Nightmare Was Uncovered
Patel was arrested after Greater Manchester Police tipped off Met detectives about videos of child abuse found on a device sent for repair.
Though the device belonged to brother Kishan, officers identified Vruj in the videos from a brief facial glimpse and unique jewellery.
They uncovered further vile footage showing the rape of a woman after a night out and voyeurism against another child.
While most abuse happened in 2018, officers fear Vruj’s offending continued more recently.

The Met is appealing for anyone who suspects children under Patel’s care or visiting his or associates’ homes have been abused to contact police. More victims might emerge.
