Emergency Services Called To Coca-cola Factory In Sidcup After A Large Chemical Spill Around 200 People Evacuated The Building

A number of fire crews and officers from the London fire Brigade have been called to the Cray Road site in Sidcup this evening following reports of an incident involving a large spillage of chemicals.

Emergency services were called to the site at just before 9pm after reports that acid had been spilt within the boiler house.

Firefighters could be seen donning chemical suits and breathing apparatus and then seen entering the boiler room block. It is understood that the acid is used as part of the sanitation process on site.

Six fire engines could be seen entering the site via the Edgington Road entrance

A224 Cray Road is shut in both directions closed due to a police incident from around the A20 Sidcup By-Pass (Crittal’s Corner) to A211 Sidcup Hill.

An LFB spokesman said: London firefighters dealt with a chemical incident at a factory on Cray Road in Sidcup.

There was a leak of hydrochloric acid which has now been isolated.

Around 200 people evacuated the building before the Brigade arrived. There are no reports of any injuries.

The Brigade was called at 2039.
