Police name Man Stabbed to Death in Kingston by group of Ten
Detectives investigating the murder of a man in Kingston have named the victim as 22-year-old Malik Chattun from Surbiton. Police were called by the London Ambulance Service at 02:16hrs on Sunday, 5 August to Cambridge Gardens, Kingston following reports of a stabbing. Officers attended and found a man suffering from stab wounds. Despite the efforts of members of the public and police who gave initial CPR, prior to the arrival of paramedics, Malik was pronounced dead at the scene at 03:02hrs. His next of kin have been informed. A post-mortem examination carried out at Kingston Mortuary on Monday, 6 August gave the cause of death as a single stab wound. In the early hours of Monday, 6 August, two 19-year-old men were arrested on suspicion of murder and a 20-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. They all remain in custody at a south London police station. An incident room has now opened under the Homicide and Major Crime Command, led by Detective Chief Inspector Richard Vandenbergh. DCI Vandenbergh said: “It is believed that the victim may have been involved in an altercation with a number of people prior to being assaulted. “We need to hear from anyone who was there who may have any information no matter how small. It could be that you were simply a witness to the incident and not directly involved, we need to eliminate you from the investigation as soon as possible. Malik’s family are understandably devastated by what’s happened and request that their privacy is respected during this difficult time.” Chief Superintendent Sally Benatar, South West Borough Command Unit commander, said: “Local officers continue to patrol the area to provide reassurance.
