A2 closed for over ten hours following Fatal Collision involving an HGV and Road Sweeper

Kent Police is appealing for witnesses to a fatal collision on the A2 between Faversham and Canterbury. Officers were called to the scene on the Boughton by-pass, between the A2050 and Brenley Corner at 4.21pm, on Monday 23 July. The collision involved two vehicles, a white Iveco road sweeper and a red Mercedes lorry. Both vehicles had been travelling towards the Brenley roundabout on the London bound carriageway. _psEmbed(“https://uknip.photoshelter.com”); Fire and ambulance crews also attended and the driver of the road sweeper, a man aged in his 60s from the Isle of Sheppey, was taken by air ambulance to a London hospital, where he later died. His next of kin have been informed. ​Road closures put in place following the collision were removed at 1.15am the following morning. Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are now appealing for any witnesses to contact them.
