Three drug dealers sentenced for dealing drugs to Kids in Enfield and Barnet areas
Three men have been have been sentenced today (Friday, 11 May) at the Old Bailey for drug offences after having been seen dealing drugs to young adults and girls in the Enfield and Barnet area. Phillip Amoah, 25, of Chase Side, Enfield was sentenced to three years after pleading guilty on Monday, 30 April at Wood Green Crown, to two counts of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and one count of possession with intent to supply Class B drugs. Mehmet Haksoy, 18 of Pickard Close, Enfield was sentenced to six months imprisonment suspended for two years, rehabilitation activity for 20 days a criminal behaviour order and 50 hours unpaid work after pleading guilty on 24 November at Wood Green Crown Court to possession with intent to supply Class B drugs. Houston Ghandi, 20 of Chase Side, Enfield was sentenced to six months imprisonment suspended for two years, and 50 hours unpaid work after pleading guilty on 24 November at Wood Green Crown Court to possession with intent to supply Class B drugs. The conviction and sentencing follows an investigation by the Met’s Child Sexual Exploitation Team. A police operation was set up to address offences of Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) involving underage vulnerable schoolgirls. Concerns were raised to police around young girls going missing and showing signs of taking illegal drugs. Police surveillance witnessed Haksoy and Ghandi supplying drugs on a daily basis to a number of unknown individuals, usually with Haksoy concealing items in the groin area of his clothing. On Tuesday, 24 October at 07:15hrs officers executed search warrants issued under Section 23 Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 at two addresses in Pickard Close and Chase Side, Enfield. On entering the address in Chase Side, officers found Ghandi asleep in one bedroom. Officers searched the room and in the top drawer of the bedside cabinet found a wrap of white powder, which was a cutting agent. In the wardrobe, officers found a plastic bag filled with herbal cannabis, a large amount of self-sealing bags and digital scales. Officers found a set of car keys in the property belonging to an Audi owned by Amoah, which when searched was found to contain a silver plastic bag containing cannabis. Documentation in the address revealed that Amoah was the legal tenant. Amoah was arrested in Essex on 18 November. On entering Haksoy’s address police seized a total of £2,400 in cash. Herbal cannabis, scales, plastic gloves and self-sealing bags were also found in the property. Haksoy was arrested at the address. All the men were later charged as above. Amoah was additionally charged with possession with intent to supply Class A drugs following an arrest in October in Southgate, when he was stopped in a car by officers. Two young females were in the car, along with a quantity of cocaine. The total street value of all the drugs seized is estimated at over £10,000. Detective Constable Phillipa Kenwright, the investigating officer, said: “The Sexual Exploitation Team are dedicated to tackling crime where children and young people are at risk of child sexual exploitation. There were serious concerns about the defendants and their organised crime enterprise. “Our investigation discovered they were supplying drugs to children under the age of 18 and we did everything in our power to stop this. As a result, one of these perpetrators has been put behind bars to prevent further risk to the public and the other two will be carrying out lengthy community services for their actions.”
