Man Jailed for 13 year following Sick Attacked carried out against his ex Wife

A 43-year-old man who broke into the home of his former partner and assaulted her was jailed for 13 years on Friday, 4 May. Racine Ndiaye, 43 (11.03.75) of Cresswell Road, Croydon was sentenced to 13 years’ imprisonment at Woolwich Crown Court. He was also served with a restraining order on the victim. He was found guilty on 6 April at Croydon Crown Court of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH), burglary with intent to commit GBH and common assault. At around 08:00hrs on 21 November 2017, Ndiaye attempted to break into the female’s home in Croydon and shouted through the front door threatening to kill her. The woman, in fear for her life, called the police and Ndiaye fled the scene prior to their arrival. Later that day at approximately 11:00hrs, Ndiaye returned to the house and broke in through a window. Ndiaye took a knife from the kitchen. The victim, who was upstairs, saw Ndiaye and ran into the bathroom and locked the door. When she began climbing out of the window in an attempt to escape, Ndiaye kicked down the door and grabbed her as she dangled from the window ledge. She fell to the ground suffering a broken ankle. Ndiaye then ran outside and began repeatedly punching and kicking her, despite the intervention of members of the public. Police were called by a member of the public. Ndiaye fled the scene prior to police arrival. The victim was taken to a south London hospital with significant facial injuries, as well as a broken ankle. Ndiaye was arrested later that evening at 21:35hrs and was charged on 22 November and remanded in custody. Detective Constable Milo Horvath, of Croydon CID, said: “This lengthy sentence reflects how seriously police and the courts take vicious attacks such as this. “We will continue to work tirelessly to ensure violent individuals such as Ndiaye are placed before the courts.”
