White Powder Find Sparks Major response in Woking
Police were called to Hobbycraft in Oriental Road, Woking at 3.22pm today (April 10) following a report of an unidentified white powder being thrown at three women. It has been assessed by specialist officers from Surrey Fire and Rescue Service as a non-harmful substance, believed to be flour. The shop remains shut while enquiries are carried out. The women were assessed as a precaution but have come to no harm. Inspector Mark Offord said: “We understand the impact that such an incident may have in the community because of its brazen nature in a public place, and also because of the number of emergency service responders at the scene. “We will have a number of officers on patrol around the town this evening who will be there to provide reassurance and speak to the local community. “Despite the substance not being harmful we are treating this as a crime and I would urge the public to work with us and help identify the two men who were involved in this incident. “We would like to thank the public for their patience while the emergency services attended and ensured the safety of those in the area.” The two men we would like to speak to in connection with this incident are described as white, in their 20s, both wearing tracksuit bottoms, dark jackets and hooded tops.
