Police appeal for Dashcam Footage after Man approaches School Children in Surrey

Police in Woking are reminding parents and children about stranger danger following two separate reports of a male driver in a van approaching children as they make their way to or from school. The man’s behaviour is concerning, and we are urging parents and schools to take the opportunity to remind youngsters to remain alert and safety aware when they are out and about and always distance themselves from anyone whose behaviour concerns them. We would also urge youngsters to report any suspicious incidents immediately to either their parents/guardians or their school so they can pass the information to us to take appropriate action, and if they can, try and get a description of the person and the registration number of any vehicles used. We are also appealing for any dash-cam or cycle helmet footage or residential CCTV footage which might have captured the two incidents in order to identify the vehicle involved. The first incident took place on the afternoon of 21 September at 3.20pm in Sheerwater Road, West Byfleet, near the bridge over the canal, while the second incident took place on the afternoon of 27 September at 4:10pm in Ashwood Road, Woking, near the junction with White Rose Lane. Police would like to reassure parents that we are taking these incidents extremely seriously and are carrying out inquires to locate this individual. We have stepped up patrols in the area to provide a visible deterrent and officers are available to answer any questions and provide reassurance.
