A community is reeling after the tragic death of Gillian Simpson, 75, who died following a collision in Brierfield on September 22.

Family Recall ‘Lovely Lady’ Taken Too Soon

Her family described Gillian as a “loving mother and grandmother” and a cherished friend. Her son Chris and baby granddaughter Phoebe paid heartfelt tribute:

“Gillian was a lovely lady who put her family and friends first – especially her son and granddaughter.”

“She loved spending time with her first grandchild and had been happiest over the last four weeks.”

“We are devastated by what happened on 22nd September. My mum will be deeply missed by all who knew her, and the impact she made will last forever.”

“She died surrounded by family. We love you and you’ll always be in our hearts. Not a day will pass without us missing you.”

Police Appeal for Witnesses to Crash

At 6:02pm on Monday 22nd September, police were alerted to a crash on Colne Road near Every Street. A white Mercedes CLA hit Gillian as she crossed the road.

A 24-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. She has since been bailed as inquiries continue.

Lancashire Police urge anyone who saw the collision or the vehicle’s movements before the crash to come forward. They’re also seeking any dashcam footage or information that could help their investigation.
