A temporary housing officer has been locked up for sexually assaulting an 18-year-old woman while on duty. Paul Badley, 58, employed by Rugby Borough Council, was found guilty of two counts of sexual assault, Warwickshire Police confirmed.
Disturbing Attack During Work Visit
In June 2023, Badley was assigned to help the victim move. Instead, he crossed the line, kissing her without consent and groping her by lifting her top and kissing her chest. The victim immediately reported the vile assault to police after Badley left.
Quick Arrest and Tough Sentence
- Badley was arrested just two days after the complaint
- Rugby Borough Council swiftly sacked him
- A four-day trial in August ended in a unanimous guilty verdict
- Sentenced to 2 years and 8 months behind bars
- Hit with a seven-year restraining order
- Forced onto the Sex Offenders’ Register for life
Police Praise Victim’s Bravery and Support Services
Detective Constable Gemma Kirby said: “This was a hugely traumatic incident. I commend the victim for her bravery in coming forward – it’s been and continues to be an incredibly challenging time.”
“Thanks also to the Independent Sexual Violence Advisor from Safeline, whose compassion helped make this ordeal more manageable. I hope Badley’s conviction encourages other victims to speak up. We will investigate every case thoroughly.”
