Tragedy struck Melksham as Cheryl Decarteret died following a collision on Saturday, September 27. Her family has paid a heartfelt tribute to the much-loved mother and grandmother.
Beloved Local Figure Remembered
Cheryl grew up in Holt and later settled in Melksham. Known for her warm spirit, she was adored by many in the community.
Her family said: “Cheryl was a much-loved mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was born in Bradford on Avon and grew up in Holt before moving to Melksham. She was loved and cherished by many.”
Life and Legacy
Cheryl started working at Avon Rubber at 18, alongside her best friend Margaret Shaw, who was also critically injured in the crash and remains in hospital.
“Cheryl loved her garden and was looking forward to spending more time tending it after retiring a few years ago,” her family revealed.
Active in her community, Cheryl helped friends with shopping, appointments, and laundry.
Family Left Heartbroken
Cheryl leaves behind a son, two daughters, seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Her family said: “She enjoyed spending time with her family and would often holiday with them. She will be greatly missed and has left a massive hole in our close family. We will love and miss her forever.”
