A number of supporting beams on the scaffolding were completely bent out of position – appearing to leave only a few beams and the vehicle holding the weight of the frame. Simon Hickey a First officer with Virgin Atlantic told us what he saw: “I was the third car behind the HGV, a car came around the corner, clipped the back of the lorry – and hit another car. “The car in front of me reversed, I reversed. Then two cars went under the scaffolding and into the side of the building.” https://youtu.be/XUiJSg_Q1XQ We understand one person has been taken to hospital. Simon said that what he did to help: “I jumped out, ran over – the driver of the Subaru, a chap in about his 70’s I think, he had his foot flat on the accelerator the front wheels were smoking. “So I reached in and turned off the engine. He wasn’t injured or trapped but he was in a deep state of shock. “I think he had some chest pains which I suspect were from the airbags.” @UKNIP
